WOW! 51 Fibro voices here and growing

WHEN:
I started this site, in May this year, very simply with a post on this site, a twitter and a mention on my facebook page Leeroy Good . I have not, yet, done any major promotion so I am really happy we have over 50 fibro voices here.

WHY START THIS SITE?:
I had an idea that the more fibro voices that banded together and helped one another the more we could do something worthwhile for fibromyalgia and therefore for us. It was based around the idea that "Together everyone achieves more. There are no limits to what we can accomplish together." W. Amos. I did not have a clear picture of what we could achieve but I knew by the callibre of the blogs and posts that their were some strong voices out there.

WHO:
I am Lee, a female blogger in Australia and I wanted to connect all fibro bloggers around the world. So far most bloggers are in the USA but we also have others in Australia and Sao Paulo Brazil,

WHAT NEXT:
I think UNDERSTAND FIBROMYALGIA is a great theme to explore, not only for sufferers but for medical practitioners and other carers.
Many people with Fibromyalgia need more support so they can manage their symptoms.
We can help support them with ideas.
We will all be able to join in a fun link up of fibro ideas to help people with fibro very soon. If it is successful we will do more link ups. This will give great access to ideas to help people with Fibro.
I also have some ideas for a big launch of this site.
I would love to get your ideas on something you think Fibro Blogger Directory can acheive.

Nearly 50 fibro voices here

Hoping for 50 plus voices by the new year when we will be starting some new projects at Fibro Bloggers Directory. We will be asking for submissions from anyone in the Directory to share past blogs on different topics in a kind of blog hop - some people call it a carnival, some call it a link up. As soon as we get 50 we will probably commence.
In the meantime, thank you to everyone who has added a badge.
Remember how it felt when you had no visitors! Please visit all our new fibro bloggers as they are all new to blogging and I am sure would love our support:

45. Not Just an Ordinary Day Living my life under extraordinary circumstances - by Kelly, wife and mother, blogging since October 2011

46. Angst & Thanks The illnesses may be invisible, but the pain is real by Genie blogging since November 2011 - a Canadian woman in her late 20s struggling with chronic pain and invisible illnesses.

47. Fibromyalgia—Peter's Journey - I'm trying to learn a little more about this syndrome and about myself, and hopefully share my experiences with some insight, music and pop culture references and a little humor. Peter is a married guy blogging in USA since November 2011.

48. Restoring My Soul Spiritual inspiration and comfort for Christians suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome and/or fibromyalgia. Ann's blog - avstay at home mother of five living in Florida USA blogging since October 2011.

So do you know anyone who should be No. 49 and 50? Please tell them to add a comment here.

You can Help

I hope that increasing awareness of Fibromyalgia will encourage early diagnosis, research and ultimately a cure of this disease.

Banding together to get the fibro voice heard may help acheive some notice for fibro.

We need to educate the public and healthcare community about Fibromyalgia.

These were some of my motivations to start this site.
So I WELCOME you to the movement to connect fibro bloggers, inspired by all the fibro bloggers and their stories. Blogging is a powerful tool and by connecting we can be a stronger voice. I hope you will join us because I truly believe "Together everyone achieves more. There are no limits to what we can accomplish together." W. Amos

After you join Fibro Bloggers (OR even if you don't have a fibro blog) there are other things you can do to help further spread the momentum of getting people to notice fibromyalgia. We need to support each other:
1. visit some fibro blogger's sites
2. follow some fibro blogger's sites
3. add a badge to your blog
4. make a suggestion here of what you think Fibro Blogger's Directory might be able to achieve.

Did you know that Fibromyalgia funding was less than that for Lyme disease and West Nile Virus which only has around 4,000 sufferers!!!

Please join Fibro Blogger's, or 'follow', so we can all be a louder shouting voice.

Every blogger can help

As a blogger, your ability to creatively engage your audience and be part of their lives can make a huge difference to both your and their well-being. It can also increase everyone's capacity to learn about fibromyalgia.

As bloggers we all get creative blocks, the days when you want to blog but are not sure what to blog about. We all have our own unique voice and that is what others want to hear. Some suggestions to get your story out there are:

When I first realised that something was wrong
Who diagnosed me
How I was diagnosed
How long before I got a diagnosis
How I felt when I was diagnosed
Who I told about my diagnosis
Fibromyalgia and working
Fibromyalgia and coping with the everyday
How I am coping now
My top 5 helpful hints to cope with Fibro
Pain and Fibro
What caused my body to go haywire
Coping skills
Dealing with family functions and holidays
What is a bad day looks like
What a good day is like with fibro
Dealing with loss of health
3 things I would tell someone, who does not have fibro, so they can understand
More suggestions coming soon.
