Hair tissue analysis is a screening test which shows the level of minerals and toxic metals in a sample of hair. It is non-invasive, and extremely accurate. Many doctors, naturopaths, homeopaths and nutritional therapists find it one of the most valuable screening tools available in health care.
The purpose of hair tissue mineral analysis is to re-establish a normal balance in the body. This is done through an individually designed dietary and supplement suggestions after testing the hair. This will help the body use the nutrients that are consumed and result in improved energy and health.
Having done hair tissue analysis myself has made me a great believer in it for the following reasons:
- it gave me peace of mind that I did not have mercury toxicity from my dental fillings (as many naturopaths had suggested
- Valuable health information often not revealed in standard blood and urine tests.
- it told me exactly what vitamins and minerals I was deficient in ( I was only deficient in magnesium)
- it tests for heavy metals like lead
- the company that did the hair tissue analysis was independent and not trying to sell me anything except the analysis.
- the analysis was
- it means I will not be wasting money on expensive vitamins and minerals that my body does not need
- it helps people get to what might be an underlying cause of their symptoms
- it gave an individualized 10 page report with suggestions for foods that I should eat
- Hair is used as one of the tissues of choice by the Environmental Protection Agency in determining toxic metal exposure. A 1980 report from the E.P.A. stated that human hair can be effectively used for biological monitoring of the highest priority toxic metals. This report confirmed the findings of other studies in the U.S. and abroad, which concluded that human hair may be a more appropriate tissue than blood or urine for studying community exposure to some trace elements.
Hair mineral analysis is extremely accurate and valid as long as the hair is not washed by the lab, which washes away some minerals. That's why I went through EvenBetterNow who use Trace Elements Inc, a federally licensed clinical laboratory that has been running since 1984.
I sent in a lock of hair about 2 inches long and about the width of a pencil from the nape of my neck. I was sent 2 copies of my report - one for myself and one to give to my doctor.
The test I had was Hair Analysis (TEI Profile 2) - Test 38 Minerals & Toxic Metals.
