How it feels to have fibromyalgia

What Fibro feels like
Some people with chronic illness just prefer to be alone or feel the need to be alone a large part of each day.
This is different from feeling isolated and disconnected. The loneliness that so many people experience can be changed by finding a community where unspoken feelings around the illness can be voiced. Many  feel that engaging with others who share the same, or similar illness, helps remove the isolation and normalizes their feelings, concerns and hopes.

I believe that going through illness with others in this community is better than going it alone and hope that Fibro Friday and Fibro Blogger Directory can help you find that connection.

  1. I am definitely one of those people who prefers being alone. Not lonely, just alone. I completely agree with that sense of connection and community being so important in coping with chronic illness. Thank you Lee! Have a wonderful week :)

  3. No exaggeration, but since finding you a few weeks ago my outlook on life has totally changed, I read your words and it's like I wrote them, I didn't know what fibromyalgia was, I just knew I was weird and lazy and tired and that the doctors just kept passing me from one specialist to another. You're blog is beyond important, it's essential, it needs to be widely shared and read. So many people out there think it's in their heads, but you make us realise it's not. Please just keep doing what you're doing.

  4. I'm not sure if I've ever wanted to be alone, which is why illness can be so difficult for me!

  5. I've been away for a while also: work commitments (which were positive), family members in hospital (not positive) and inevitable flare-up (awful). One of the things I craved, because I knew it would be good for me, was alone time.

I've always struggled with being able to recharge my batteries with sufficient alone time. My family get really upset when I want to be on my own. I thought it was from being an only child. So reassuring to know others feel the same.

Wonderful work, as always, Lee. When things are not going well it's great to know that this community is here, ready for when you're able to join in

Warmest wishes to you all, Sally x
