The findings of sleep studies suggest that 70-90 percent of fibromyalgia patients complain of non-restorative sleep, which accentuates pain, musculoskeletal stiffness and fatigue.Fausto Salaffi, MD, PhD, Associate Professor of Rheumatology - Polytechnic University of Marche, Ancona, Italy.
Many people with Fibromyalgia are insomniacs but Fibro is not just associated with this dreaded sleep affliction of insomnia but with many other conditions as well including sleep apnea, teeth grinding during sleep, NRS which stands for non restorative sleep, restless legs and frequent waking.
In fibromyalgia, all treatments are geared toward helping people sleep better. If we can improve their sleep, patients will get better. ReplyDeleteThanks so much Jools, sharing is caring!
DeleteI had fibromyalgia for about 20 years. I fortunately had it diagnosed almost immediately by a wonderful male doctor. It was very debilitating at first. I had to rest after cleaning my bathtub, a very painful process, and I was only in my 50s. The pain did not go away. My doctor prescribed aerobic exercise and Flexeril. That drug made a big difference in the amount of sleep I got. I exercised for 20 minutes every day except Sunday. (That was all my pain tolerance would allow.)
Never heard of Flexeril will have to look that up :0) x
DeleteI just had the worst night with only a few hours broken up. Nothing solid. Thank you for this information. I will read it and hopefully find something that works for me. <3
ReplyDeleteI hope you find something that works for you :0) xx

ReplyDeleteHi Nusrat, stem cell therapy sounds very interesting, Personally I think it is early days for this treatment and am waiting to see more studies on it. I do appreciate hearing your experience.
