Funny Fibro

 Well fibromyalgia is not funny at all, I can hear you say after reading the title. 

No it's not. Living with any chronic pain condition is not funny but that is precisely why I love to share jokes about fibro because we all need a smile and a laugh every single day.

A recent systematic review analyzed 13 studies over the past 10 years where humor had been used to communicate serious messages covering topics such as mental health, breast and testicular cancer self-examination, safe sex, skin cancer and binge drinking.

"What we found is that humor can act as an effective vehicle for delivering messages people might find fear-inducing or threatening. Humor, if used well, can be an emotional buffer that breaks down some of that fear so the underlying messages reach the intended audience and influence their behaviors and attitudes."  MedicalXpress

Fibromyalgia Monsters

 These cute little grumpy monsters are how fibromyalgia makes you feel sometimes... confused, angry, defiant, mixed-up, overwhelmed, and annoyed. What else would you expect from a chronic condition that leaves you in constant pain and ongoing flare-ups with extra symptoms? 

I created these images to make others know that they are not alone and also hopefully see a little humor in our plight.

Fibromyalgia humor

For years now I have been both creating and collecting humor that relates to fibromyalgia. I find it helpful to see the humor in life and the strange things that can happen to us, like waking up one day with fibromyaligia.

As Ricky Gervais said "What's the point in having humor? Humor is to get us over terrible things."

I mostly share it on twitter using the hastag #FunnyFibro and while you can search for it there I thought it would be nice to have a selection here. I hope you get a smile and can relate to some of them.
